Missions Banquet!

Tonight was sooo much fun! I am soo tired i can't go into details...well actually today as a whole was fun. First we had the skit..it went well....grand total of $2247.00 raised by the homeschoolers and over$16,000 by the whole school!

Then i help set up for the banquet, the theme was Winter Wonderland....boy that snow was no fun to clean up!

Then...the banquet took place....Dr. Jessup taught on Faith Promise and how we don't commit because we don't have enough...but he said explain it to the people around the world that we have a house for our car but can't afford to sent the gospel to them....the same people that don't have a house or shoes....the rest is all a blurr...just imagine it beautiful and fun filled...that is all i shall say.

"Build an Altar" Dr. Earl Jessup

This morning i was privileged to go to the Missionary Wives Luncheon. It is suppose to be for ladies 18 and up (a new rule made this year) so asked if Kailyn and I helped if we could come. The exception was made and i think we were a help to Ms. Tammy and the other ladies. Ms. Denese Stewart taught the devotional on Prayer.
P-Problems
R-Responsibility
A-Anxiety
Y-You
When you have problems, pray.
When you have a responsibility that seems impossible to complete, pray.
When you have an anxiety that seems impossible to get past, pray.
When you get down and satan tries to defeat you, pray.
Ms. Denese told us of specific situations in her and her family's life that they have needed the power of prayer in each of these four points.
Thanks Ms. Denese it was a great devotional!

Tonight Dr. Earl Jessup taught on "Build an Altar". He read from I Kings 18, the story of Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal. And how God proved himself through fire.

Elijah, unlike most people, wasn't afraid to start something only God could finish. Most people today will not build the altar because they do not have the faith that God will start the fire!

So why did Elijah declare the contest between the Almighty God and Baal?
1. Because of the problem they were facing! The people had forsaken the commandments of the Lord and followed Baalim!
2. Because that is what leaders do! Elijah had a lot of faith! If God had not set the altar on fire Elijah's life would have been lost! He was a leader willing to sacrifice to see the people bettered.
3. Because he realized there was going to be a lot of people that would not build the altar!
Under this point Dr. Jessup stated that in the present day there is only 1 fundamental, bible believing, kjv church for ever 40-50,000 people in America! Unbelievable! In our past there was 1 for ever 500 people. We need to send people to tell the world about Christ, but what about America? We are commanded to tell all the world of Christ...all the world includes our beloved country!
He also said that many people believe in God, but only in theory...how sad...i am blessed to believe in my God because i have seen His works, and Miracles, and Blessings, and His Presence!
I have a God in REALITY!!! He is real!
4. Because God will honor those that step out on Faith.
We cannot ask God to send the fire if we do not repair/build the altar. If we are not right with God, we cannot ask Him to bless our lives and use us.

This Missions Conference has been such a blessing to me! I've seen Christ work in the hearts of our people and my heart as well this week.

Also Praise the Lord for Derek Sattler who committed to be a Missionary tonight! Please pray for him and God's will to continue to be done in his life!

Bro. Earl Jessup

Tonight the Missions Conference continued with Bro. Earl Jessup missionary to Canada. He taught on reaching the world. How to do it and why it's not being done. "If our world is to be reached it will be done by a few that are willing to start something only God can finish" He used the true story about the men that took the paralyzed man to see Jesus and lowered him through the roof. Because the bible doesn't mention their names, Bro. Jessup named them these evening so he could refer to them Specifically. So it goes like this, George and Harry wanted to go see Jesus and decided to take their friend Matthew. But when they got to Matthews house to invite him they discovered that he couldn't walk! So Matthew said "go to walmart and get me a cot and you can carry me there" So they did, loaded him up and walked to joe's house. Once they got there the place was so packed they couldn't get Matthew in to see Jesus, and the people that were there wouldn't move to let them in. So George sent Harry to home depot to get some rope, an axe, a ladder, and a few other supplies, they were gonna lower Matthew down through the roof! He would see Jesus if it was up to them! Harry was in a hurry trying to get checked out and get back to Joe's house and the cashier asked him "so what is so exciting? What you gonna do with all this stuff?" , Harry joyfully replied in a frenzy and told the woman about their plan to get Matthew in. "Why don't you just wait?" The woman exclaimed. "Surely Jesus will be done there and then your friend can see him" After Harry's conversation with the cashier he got back to Joe's and the set up the ladder. Somehow they got Matthew up the ladder and onto the roof...then they started making their hole. They lowered him down right to Jesus' feet! Then...the most miraculous thing happened not only did Jesus make him walk! He saved him from his sins too!!!! why? Because of "their faith". Mark 2:5 There are several morals to this story.
First, If we are going to reach this world there must be the preeminence of Christ. To walk by faith we must be all about Him!
Second, If we are going to reach this world there must be the presence of people. Your presence at church and following Christ is important because someone is watching you to see what is most important to you. Hopefully they will see it is Christ.=) (the most important thing to George and Harry was to get Matthew to Christ)
Thirdly, If we are going to reach this world there must be the preaching of the Word! It is the only truth! (Jesus was Preaching the Word)
Fourth, If we are going to reach this world there must be perserverent soul winners. (George and Harry)
There were several other examples Bro. Jessup used. Such as there were the people at Joe's house that weren't willing to move to see Matthew taken to Jesus to be saved. Are we willing to move to take action to see people saved?
Also the Woman at the check out asked why not wait? What if Matthew had died between then and when Jesus left Joe's house? The economy is "Bad" right now, so why don't we wait to send missionaries to the world...because people will die between now and then and never have the chance to spend eternity in heaven.
George and Harry were willing to start something that only God could finish. They could get Matthew to Christ but only God could save him!
We need to be willing to start the process send the missionaries or better yet be the missionaries and tell people about Christ he will finish it and save them!

Praise the Lord for missions conference! Such a blessing!

Rachael

Cottage Prayer Meeting

Tonight was the cottage prayer meeting! It was so much fun and a blessing to me. My mom and I went to the Randolph's house where Bro. Mike Groves and his family were the featured missionaries. Bro. Mike and his wife Ms. Nancy have 3 children. John 17, Kelly 15, and Stephen 13. Bro. Mike taught us tonight that in order for us to be stable in all our ways we must die to self and forget about our wants and live for God in the way He designed us to live. Bro. Mike's 3 main verses tonight were Psalms 37:5, Proverbs 16:3, and Romans 12:1. The first two talk about "committing" our ways and our works which is basically our whole being. And Romans 12:1 states that we are to present ourselves sacrifices for Christ to use.
Also Bro. Mike and his son John sang "When God is Near"...and i recorded it for you all to see here because it was a blessing to me. I only caught the second verse though =)

Also Maegan, Brittany, Ashley, and Kailyn sang "Not for Selfish Gain" and did a very good job.. I think i like it better A Capella =) Here is the whole song...the reason Kay grins every time she looks at me is cause i couldn't help grinin at her =) Good job girlie! (even though it was short notice=)

After Bro. Mike taught us and some singing, we had the prayer part of the meeting. Bro. Steve Carter prayed first, then Bro. Mike Wright, next was Bro. Tom Fox, and last was Bro. Michael.
Some of the requests that were on the hearts of people tonight were of course for the Groves and their mission to go to New Zealand, for Baby Trey and for the Lord to heal his little body, for Bro. Mike Campbell, Ms. Barbara Austin, and unsaved and sick loved ones.

Then of course it was time to do what Baptists do best...EAT!!! =) there was a lot of people there tonight but there was even more food! hehe. Then Kailyn knocked over Jills drink just to see if Mr. Randolph would catch her (he didn't=) and we made the missionaries clean it up. Just kidding, Kailyn's flowy skirt knocked it over and the missionaries hurried to help us clean it up before Mr. Randolph saw it=) I think your safe now kay=)

Lots of laughing and eating and talking and now i am here blabbing about it=)

Can't wait till tomorrow when Missions Conference continues!

Till Then,
Rachael a.k.a "Scout" right kay?

Missions Week

Yesterday was an AWESOME start to missions week! I was able to hear 3 of the 5 missionaries speak. Bro. Frank Davis is 80yrs old and has such a love for the people of Africa..if he was physically able he would still be there! He taught in the 1st am service about God's Heart and God's Love. Then in the 2nd am service Bro. Mike Grove missionary to New Zealand taught about why we don't serve God fully. 1. Because we haven't cast out all our failures and still linger on them when God has forgiven us. 2. We have to cast out our fear of man. and 3.Because we have to think about our past victories when satan reminds us of our failures. I liked a statement he made at the end of his sermon. " Consider yourself called to full time christian service till God tells you otherwise" Then last night Bro. Mike Morrissey missionary to India taught us a history lesson. =) It was the most convicting message i had heard in a while. He taught us not to be a "Maginal Line Christian". Its a long story but basically France could have very well prevented WWII and saved many lives and they had the power to do so, but the decided to stay behind their maginal line. "God wants us to be Conquering Christians not Hold the Fort Christians". No matter what, we Christians are on the winning side in this war...but what about those that haven't yet joined our side? We have to give them the chance otherwise they lose for eternity. Bro. Morrissey gave us an example of how big India is and how great the need for the Gospel is there. There are 1.4 Billion people in Indian. If their team were to see 50,000 ppl saved each year it would still take 200 yrs. for them to see 1% of India saved! The need is very great and God is doing a work...just last night He called one of my best friends to be a missionary to India! Proud of your decision girlie! I continue to pray for the outcome of this missions conference and that when God speaks our people will listen to His calling as Shivangi did. And if your not called to the mission field, remember we have a mission field right here in America.

Church Youth Activity: Gym Night

Tonight we had our competitive activity after Rush Night. Gym Nite!!!!

We started out with classic "Gotcha" which let me announce i STINK at! But oddly enough i made it past the first round and wasn't eliminated till the second! I thought we had the Lions but Aaron hung in there and won it for them...Good job!

Then we played quite an odd game..but fun...it was ping-pong volleyball. Each team was on opposite sides of the net and half of each team had ping-pong paddles and the other half had Styrofoam cups. You could earn points in two ways...catch the ball in your cup or it touch the ground on the other team's side. (catching it in the cup is harder than it looked...only one point was actually made that way and it was Justin...good job!)
We played that twice we won once and the Lions won once.

Then we played Regular Volleyball twice...we won them both. =)

Then we played Rugby...i shant try to explain it...but it was fun! and we won it twice of two times as well. It wore me out but it wouldn't have been as much fun if i didn't give it all i had=)
I think the guys i was blocking got irritated at times cause i could hit the ball out of their hands.... but if i had it... there weren't nothing the could do but try to catch it when i got rid of it. =)

It was a good night for the Watchmen...and then we had chips and ice cream...and drinks!

and fun was had by all=)

Missions Week starts tomorrow!!!! I am so excited! One of the kids of the Missionary Family's Daughters, Kelly, Came to the activity tonight! She was cool...and gave Kailyn a run for her money! She was competitive but nice!

Tomorrow....The orchestra has several pieces we are playing this week for missions conference and i came home from Rugby to practice them...we have played two of them before so its not that bad...but i was a little...ok a lot rusty on my 16th notes=)

Please continue to pray for James David "Trey" Sawyers...you can see the latest update at prayingfortrey.blogspot.com

I Have Been Blessed!!!!

THE ROOM

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found myself in the room.
There were no distinguishing features except for the one wall covered with small index card files. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author or subject in alphabetical order. But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and seemingly endless in either direction, had very different headings. As I drew near the wall of files, the first to
catch my attention was one that read "Girls I have liked." I opened it and began flipping through the cards. I quickly shut it, shocked to realize that I recognized the names written on each one. And then without being told, I knew exactly where I was.

This lifeless room with its small files was a crude catalog system for my life. Here were written the actions of my every moment, big and small, in a detail my memory couldn't match. A sense of wonder and curiosity, coupled with horror, stirred within me as I began randomly opening files and exploring their content. Some brought joy and sweet memories; others a sense of shame and regret so intense that I would look over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching.

A file named "Friends" was next to one marked "Friends I have betrayed." The titles ranged from the mundane to the outright weird "Books I Have Read," "Lies I Have Told," "Comfort I have Given," "Jokes I Have Laughed at." Some
were almost hilarious in their exactness: "Things I've yelled at my brothers." Others I couldn't laugh at: "Things I Have Done in My Anger", "Things I Have Muttered Under My Breath at My Parents." I never ceased to be surprised by the contents.

Often there were many more cards than I expected. Sometimes fewer than I hoped. I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the life I had lived. Could it be possible that I had the time in my years to fill each of these thousands or even millions of cards? But each card confirmed this truth.
Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with my signature.

When I pulled out the file marked "TV Shows I have watched", I realized the files grew to contain their contents. The cards were packed tightly, and yet after two or three yards, I hadn't found the end of the file. I shut it, shamed, not so much by the quality of shows but more by the vast time I knew that file represented.

When I came to a file marked "Lustful Thoughts," I felt a chill run through my body. I pulled the file out only an inch, not willing to test its size and drew out a card. I shuddered at its detailed content.

I felt sick to think that such a moment had been recorded. An almost animal rage broke on me. One thought dominated my mind: No one must ever see these cards! No one must ever see this room! I have to destroy them!" In insane frenzy I yanked the file out. Its size didn't matter now. I had to empty it
and burn the cards. But as I took it at one end and began pounding it on the floor, I could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when I tried to tear it.

Defeated and utterly helpless, I returned the file to its slot. Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a long, self-pitying sigh.

And then I saw it. The title bore "People I Have Shared the Gospel With." The handle was brighter than those around it, newer, almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box not more than three inches long fell into my hands. I could count the cards it contained on one hand.

And then the tears came. I began to weep. Sobs so deep that they hurt. They started in my stomach and shook through me. I fell on my knees and cried. I cried out of shame, from the overwhelming shame of it all. The rows of file shelves swirled in my tear-filled eyes. No one must ever, ever know of this
room. I must lock it up and hide the key. But then as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him.

No, please not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read the cards. I couldn't bear to watch His response. And in the moments I could bring myself to look at His face, I saw
a sorrow deeper than my own.

He seemed to intuitively go to the worst boxes. Why did He have to read every one? Finally He turned and looked at me from across the room. He looked at me with pity in His eyes. But this was a pity that didn't anger me. I dropped my head, covered my face with my hands and began to cry again.
He walked over and put His arm around me. He could have said so many things. But He didn't say a word. He just cried with me.

Then He got up and walked back to the wall of files. Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and, one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each card. "No!" I shouted rushing to Him. All I could find to say was "No, no," as I pulled the card from Him. His name shouldn't be on these cards. But there it was, written in red so rich, so dark, so alive. The name
of Jesus covered mine. It was written with His blood. He gently took the card back. He smiled a sad smile and began to sign the cards. I don't think I'll ever understand how He did it so quickly, but the next instant it seemed I heard Him close the last file and walk back to my side.

He placed His hand on my shoulder and said, "It is finished." I stood up, and He led me out of the room. There was no lock on its door. There were still cards to be written.
