Ok, I need you guys' imput.
I'm trying to pick a topic for my 10pg research paper and i've narrowed it down to three.
It is to be an argumentative essay.
I'm trying to pick a topic for my 10pg research paper and i've narrowed it down to three.
It is to be an argumentative essay.
1. Creationism should be taught along with evolutionism in public schools.
2. Discipline: parents and the state.
3. Bring back the Bible, Prayer and the Ten Commandments in public schools.
Each of these I feel quite strongly about and have dug up support for my argument.
My main support for the first one is shouldn't kids be taught all there is to believe so they can choose for themselves what they believe to be right and true? After all, creationism may be accepted by faith, but evolution is no fact! In my paper i would provide scripture supporting my belief and some of the preposterous theories of evolutionist that take much more faith to believe in.
Support for my second subject seems to be the most abundant. The majority of children today are spoiled little brats, because they aren't disciplined...they have no manners, no respect, no sense of responsibility. Many parents don't want to put in the time and effort to discipline their children, while others are afraid of the state. If a parent spanks their child in public they have a possibility of being charged for child abuse. Yet the state won't step in a discipline them till they are adolescents, then they send them to jail. In addition, the children of America are being raised at school. 8 hours, 5 days a week are spent with their teachers that aren't allowed to discipline them in an way that is effective. So, the government wont allow the parents to discipline the children, and they say they'll take care of it...and while the school system is their chance, they don't use it. The children of America are the future of America...if they aren't taught respect and responsibility where is our country going to be in the future? Also, i would use scripture to support my claim that children should be disciplined by their parents. Not only disciplined but have boundaries and restraints. I child should know that "no" means "no".
Finally my support for my third point dwindles. I start to argue that if they are removing scripture, prayer, and the ten commandments to keep from offending people, they should be concerned of offending the Christians should they not. But the fallacy with that statement comes when other denominations argue their point. What about the oran or buddha...if we could demand our religion into schools, they would have the same grounds to demand theirs in.
So please let me know what you think....i have to turn in a "proposal" about my research paper on friday.
Thanks!
